Holiday Festivities at the College
Four days before Christmas was not a late date to celebrate. To celebrate the good year that has passed, the annual employees and student-faculty Christmas parties were held on December 21, 2007 at the Angelo King Auditorium Lobby.
During the Employees Christmas Party, four of our beloved employees were given the 10-year loyalty award. This award gives recognition to employees and faculty who have stayed in the college for 10 years and continues to serve the college. This hopes to encourage employees to love their work and stay with the college for a long period of time. The recipients of the 10 year loyalty award were: Dr. Carolina Linda L. Tapia, Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine; Dr. Renee B. Paraan of the Department of Anatomy; Medical Technologist Luisita G. Paredes; and building administrator Nestor P. Remigio. Their service and loyalty to the college can only be repaid with love and care from the staff and family of the college.
After the employees have gone home and classes have ended, the student and faculty Christmas party started in the same place. The initial part of the program consisted of the awarding of prizes for the Intramurals held last October 2007. Afterwards, the actual program was started, hosted by Dr. Siegfried Solano and Second Year Student, Serah Laquindanum. Each year level, some joined by faculty members, showcased their talents in different kinds of production numbers like caroling, radio act, skit presentation and dancing. A black light production was also presented by the faculty and staff of the Department of OB-Gynecology. Each group received a special cash prize for the wonderful performance that they have shared. The cash prizes handed out to the performers were from Drs. Brigido Carandang, Alejandro Ortigas, Oscar Naidas, Bernie Laya and Jonnel Lim This presentation of talents showed that students and faculty of the college are not just good in academics but are talented as well.
A cash bar, brainchild of Dr. Benjo Campomanes, was set up during the Christmas party offering a variety of wines and beer. This aimed to generate funds for the acquisition of new materials for the college library. In between the fun and laughter, several faculty members sponsored drinks for those who attended, making the cash bar a huge success. Thanks go to Dr. Manuel Mariano, Dr. Brigido Carandang and Dr. Jeff Domino among others. Their generosity benefited not only the library but also the students and faculty of the college that use this facility to expand their knowledge and abilities.
Another highlight of the party was the raffle which gave away several prizes that included IPods and a laptop. Thanks to the generous prize donors Dr. Menandro Siozon, Mr. Frederick Dy, Dr. Campomanes, Dr. Henry Esguerra and Dr. Filipinas Natividad. Though only a number of students and faculty members did get to bring home a prize, everyone brought home the joyous spirit brought about by the season and the overflowing food, drinks and fun in the party.
