Applicants seeking admission for the Medical Degree program shall fulfill the following requirements:
• Graduating or graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Arts or a Masters or Doctorate Degree
• Has completed the following within their Degree or took as additional courses:
• 15 units Biology (Botany, General Zoology, General Biology, Parasitology, Physiology and Vertebrae Comparative Anatomy)
• 10 units Chemistry (General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry)
• 5 units Physics (General Physics)
• 9 units Mathematics (Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus or Statistics)
• 12 units Social Sciences (History, Sociology, Humanities, Philosophy and Political Science)
• Taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT).
Exclusion:
• Those convicted of any crime
• Those who have failures of more than ten (10) units in their previous schools
• Those who were dropped or expelled from their previous schools
Application forms are available at the Registrar's Office or may be downloaded from this site. Completed application forms together with the required documents for admission shall be accepted for the academic year 2009-2010 by the Registrar's Office for processing by the Admissions Committee. Application period is until January 30, 2009. Submission of applications after the said date will incur an additional fee.
NATIONAL MEDICAL ADMISSION TEST
The National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) is administered by the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. Application forms are available from their office at 24/F Cityland Pasong Tamo Tower, 2210 Don Chino Roces Ave., Makati City, Philippines. For applicants outside of Metro Manila and abroad, examinations are scheduled at different dates in different areas. Please inquire through their website or via e-mail and for those outside of the Philippines, contact the Philippine Foreign Service Post in the country you are in.
FOREIGN and FOREIGN GRADUATE APPLICANTS
Foreign applicants are those nationals of a country other than the Philippines who are holding a foreign passport and have been issued a valid student visa (ie: Sec 9f visa) or a Special Study Permit or Permanent Residency Visa (eg: Sec 13, 13a, 13e, 13g, SIRV, SRRV, PRA visa) by the appropriate Philippine authority. Filipino citizens who are graduates of foreign schools shall also be considered foreign applicants.
A transferee is a student who enrolled in another medical school and is applying at SLCM for acceptance to the program. The college may accept transferees on the following grounds:
- must fulfill the admission requirements set for a regular first year applicant
- must belong to the upper 20% of the batch in his or her present school
- must not have failed any subjects in their schools
- must be applying for the first or second year level
